Wisdom of the Herbs School is located in Woodbury, Vermont, on the east side of the Green Mountains, 20 minutes north of Montpelier, and just over an hour from Burlington. The surrounding exquisite wild lands offer a series of beaver ponds, dramatic falls and streams, a richness of open and wooded territory, and welcoming nature beings. Trails and woods roads provide excellent access in all four seasons.

We recommend that you do NOT use GPS to find our location - it sends you on a confusing tour of Woodbury's back roads, which are sometimes compared to the Bermuda Triangle. Please use the directions below.

From the east, south and west, going through Montpelier
From Montpelier to Wisdom of the Herbs School is 14 miles, and takes about 30 minutes.

From Interstate 89, take Exit 8, Montpelier. Travel straight from the ramp, pass three lights, and at the fourth light, take a left over the Winooski River onto Main Street, (marked Route 12 North). Travel on Main Street until you meet the roundabout. Start marking mileage at the roundabout. Take the first right on the roundabout, and head up the hill. Continue straight. Main Street becomes County Road. (At 1.8 miles from the roundabout, there is a bit of a fork – stay left, following the main road.) At almost 10 miles from the roundabout, you will pass through Maple Corner village, with the General Store on your left. Continue straight.

Note: Do not try to use the house numbers that you pass to determine how close you are to our location – you are passing through a couple towns, and watching the numbers will not be helpful. Please go by mileage instead.

From Maple Corner to Wisdom of the Herbs School is a little over 4 miles on dirt road. Pass through the gorgeous, powerful wireless and houseless Woodbury gulf. When you come down the other side, the first drive on your left is Wisdom of the Herbs School, marked 1005 on the mailbox. You will see a large house with solar panels up the hill, a smaller barn-like building below, and a beaver pond on the opposite side of the road. If you get to Cranberry Meadow Rd. on the right, you have gone too far.

Parking is at the bottom of the driveway and also part way up the right fork on a right-hand pull-off. Walk up the right fork of the driveway to the barn-like building which is our classroom. Please do not park at the classroom.

From the north through Hardwick
From Hardwick to Wisdom of the Herbs School is 8 miles, and takes about 25 minutes.

From the center of Hardwick at the blinking light where Routes 14 and 15 overlap, take Rt. 14 south for just under 4 miles, and at the crest of the long hill, turn right at Greenwood Lake Road - hit your odometer to measure mileage at this turn. Greenwood Lake Road T’s early on - keep left - you are now on County Rd, with Greenwood Lake on your left. (Take it slowly as there are no guardrails around the Lake.) From the turn onto Greenwood Lake Road, travel 3.8 miles to our driveway on the right, marked 1005 on the mailbox. You will have passed Cranberry Meadow Rd. on the left.
